Episode 0499 - The Debriefing:
Captain, Jarry, Kirin, Skipper, Pilot, Tetra, Vanna, ~ 07

{Space Dock Tower - Debriefing ~ 7}
``Captain: Zaffre for your initial reports, and I stayed up late last night reading them all. The problems we had are in three parts. So I hand you over to Pilot. ``S-Pilot: Zarfs. I have been talking to the manufacturers of our new supercharged conversion unit for our engines, and it is torque driven, therefore once it gets up to that speed it will just keep it there, which it what it was doing, and doing very well. You did manage to maintain Mach 14, which is incredible. However, there is a design flaw that it will not slow down using the same torque system, which it is designed to do, although you had initially slowed down, you were drifting forward at less than Mach 0, therefore it was holding your speed up. This did not read on our instruments. Neither can some of our instruments cope with the new system or speed. Therefore I recommend we upgrade instrument panel gauges and devices to a higher specification, effective immediately.

``Captain: The manufacturers have not charged us as for this new supercharger, as it is the first prototype of this new design. Therefore, we must regardless help them. I also think we need two gauges for our Mach speed, and I have already given the okay for Pilot to make the necessary modifications. This will mean a flight to Space Cavern today. The manufacturers are working on a fix, and will be over as soon as possible.

Flight procedures need to be updated, as we need much more time to slow down. Therefore Kirin and I, will have to rewrite some of the manual specification and send it off to the Saucer manufacturers for approval, and endorsement, as basically we have gone beyond the specifications for the Saucer. We may have to take the Saucer back to the manufacturer, for it to be re-certificated allowing for higher speeds.

The next problem we encountered, was a meteorite in Hyperdrive. This created havoc on our instruments, but we did not see anything noticeable, with only slight changes. Therefore another reason to have advanced instruments on the bridge. Fortunately we are all here to tell the tale, but it was a very close call.

The last problem was a vary hair raising time, when our instruments gave us false readings from the meteorite and distorted our refraction on re-entry into atmosphere, causing the supercharger not to shut down. I thank my crew for their attention to duty and recognizing the potential problems we were facing. This is why the Saucer started to glow orange, as the heat shield took the strain. We had to make 4 loops to cool down our Saucer, by going in and out of our atmosphere. For an encore we were right over the top of Space Dock and no one up or down could see us on instruments. Once all other modifications have been completed, I will need to run fresh tests to see if we can create the same conditions. Any questions?

``Vanna: Could the new navigational computers be so accurate that we must now change our holding pattern procedures for take off and landing? ``Captain: An excellent question, and we will all look into this as a priority. ``Tetra: When we came out of Hyperdrive, I calculated that we needed 10 Km to slow down to Mach 9. Our present instruments cannot detect this sensitivity, therefore we will need new instrumentation. ``Captain: Zaffre Tetra, and a very constructive appraisal and Pilot, put that on your list quin, to be done. ``Jarry: I would like to see a better display of lights for the ‘three greens’ as they are in the wrong place, ``Skipper: That goes for the S172 as well. ``Captain: Excellent Jarry and Skipper, see what you can do, Pilot. ``S-Pilot: Certus. ``Kirin: The instrument panel on my right, I often hit it with my elbow, so can you re-arrange them, so they can be a bit further back? ``Captain: I understand that problem Kirin, so make it happen, Pilot. ``S-Pilot: Certus. ``Captain: Zaffre you all. After lunch we will go to Space Cavern, and Pilot will run us back. You are then on a two qef, compulsory break. Skipper, Leila, Gina, Vanna and Tetra will hold the fort, so we can keep Space Dock open. The lunch today, is on me.

Pilot: Design.
